Idehen & Davenport (who I can’t believe is still on the books) are being shipped out.

It is widely anticipated that Pat Hoban will be going to Galway.

As for incomings, Fankaty Dabo is the right sided free agent referenced in above article. He missed the penalty for Coventry in the play off final, which sent Luton to the Premier League. Troy Deeney did not have good things to say about him recently either. I’m always cautious with these types of boys, but whatever.
Idehen went on loan to Ballymena as for Davenport he was probably hoping that we'd pay up his contract so he'd be free to go elsewhere & probably negotiate a nice signing on fee for himself too
The summer window last season was unreal. Idehen, Davenport, Widsom, Roberston. Pack of useless heurs - 3 of which were on 18 month deals!

Talking Derry City podcast Kevy mentioned John Quigg & Marty McCann are back at the club, scouting & involved with the youth set up respectively & a centre of excellence talked about.

Thought it was worth a mention.

Great news. The conveyor belt of talent coming through was at its best when John Quigg & Eddie Seydak was in charge

& Higgins won't be quick to come back looking for them to take to Coleraine

Ronan Hale relegated with Ross County.

We know Lynch likes buying players from Scotland.

Reports of Don Thomas leaving

https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/foo ... s-35321056

Dom Thomas is set to return to Scotland this summer – just six months after a shock move to Derry City.

The tricky winger left his role as Queen’s Park skipper to seek a new challenge in the League of Ireland following 10 years in the Scottish game.

Thomas is a regular in Tiernan Lynch’s side, starring alongside familiar faces like Liam Boyce, Kevin Holt and Paul McMullan.

But despite settling in well to life in Northern Ireland, Thomas is ready to return home as he’d like to be closer to his young son.

Several bottom-half Premiership sides and a string of Championship clubs have expressed an interest.

And it’s believed Thomas is weighing up his options in Scotland, with an imminent transfer in the pipeline.

After being released by Celtic at 14-years-old, Thomas burst on to the scene at Motherwell in 2017 as a teenage star.

Following 33 appearances at Fir Park, Thomas switched to Kilmarnock where he spent most of his time on loan at Queen of the South, Dumbarton and Dunfermline.

While on loan at The Sons, Thomas was nominated for the League One Players’ Player of the Year Award and made the division’s Team of the Year.

In 2020, the Scotland under-21 international signed for Dunfermline but big-spending Queen’s came calling in 2022 and Thomas moved to Glasgow’s south side.

Thomas signed for Derry City in January for an undisclosed transfer fee.

A big loss. One of our better players.

Would only let him go if we get our money back…

What’s that about there like. Why sign someone on a multi-year deal if they’re not moving the family over - can’t half ass full time football & obviously wasn’t going to settle if family/kid in Scotland.

Lynch needs to get the summer market right.

He never seems to be off a plane that lad. When Holt was coming over he met Thomas flying over. After the Drogs game he left the ground as soon as the full time whistle went to get to Dublin airport to catch a flight. I can fully understand that he wants to be closer to family but he knew the situation when he signed. This is where I struggle with the team having Saturday and Sunday's off, Thomas is away from late Friday until early Monday morning every week, not doing recovery together or light training over the weekend seems strange

What flight would he have been catching to Scotland from Dublin after a game that ends at approx 9:35pm ? The flights are all done for the night by then (unless he was off to Romania for the weekend).

It's completely understandable that someone would choose to work away from home, a distance that would require travelling, in order to better themselves and their family finances.
It's also completely understandable that that distance and travel would become a problem and start impact family and work life.
It works for some, not for others. The lack of empathy that we give footballers really is shocking at times.

Best of luck to Dom, looked a decent player, hopefully we can recoup something for him.

Not sure what time the flight was at but at the end of the game the press lads were asking for Dom to do after match interviews as he'd scored the equaliser and they were told he had left straight after the game to catch a flight.
