Any injury news?
Hoping Patching is fit for this game, even from the bench. Does Danny Mullen deserve a start?
Might go back to 4 at the back again this week

Patching will miss tomorrow with a thigh injury. Not expected to be out long term. https://audioboom.com/posts/8469520-der ... f-the-game

Looking forward to an entertaining game, if Waterford continuing playing like they have been.
What is it with injuries in our squad? We can't just be unlucky, can we? Another player out now. Is it a strength and conditioning issue? Training on plastic?

Most of the injuries aren't expected to be long term then they are! Last year Duffy was named in starting xi v Pats and gets injured in warmup, this time Patching does.TenaciousDee wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2024 8:54 am Patching will miss tomorrow with a thigh injury. Amond is a very good finisher so I hope Derry can keep him quiet.

Diallo & Dummigan injuries had clearly nothing to do with the plastic. Patching & Fats early season niggles.
RH referenced an interesting stat in a pre match interview. In the last 18 games at the plastic Brandy Derry have won 13 drawn 5 and lost 0.

I thought the defeat to Rovers last season would have been in the last 18 games at home, but perhaps that was 19 games ago?
Among these 18, how many entertaining games has there been? I suppose that starts a new debate about winning v entertaining.

Re: Derry City v Waterford Match Thread
Given that Mullan has two goals in two games, I suspect he might have earned himself a starting place. I wonder I we could see a slightly different line-up with Mullan playing slightly behind Hoban up front.
Maher
Boyce, Connolly, McJannett, Doherty
O'Reilly, McEneff
McMullan, Mullan, Duffy
Hoban
These are the games we dropped points in too often last season. Let's see if things have changed. I suspect it could be another dull affair unfortunately.

Likely includes the cup games I haven’t checked but an indication of the improvement nonetheless that has largely gone under the radar.Keyser Soze wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2024 12:41 pmAn impressive stat alright.mokendismucker wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2024 12:33 pm Diallo & Dummigan injuries had clearly nothing to do with the plastic. Winning over entertainment for me every time. When we are at the top I.e. won the league then we can entertain. Was Jim McLaughlin’s treble team entertaining? It certainly had its detractors for the style of play.

I was anticipating Doherty in midfield on Monday and was surprised he wasn't in the end. He can do a job and Coll can slip into left back if needed. Can't see it happen but the option is there.eugenio wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2024 3:40 pm What about. Maher

I would use Mullan as a good impact sub.

Defend crosses better at the back post. He also needs to improve his attacking abilities from left back. For me he us better suited to start tight away games than Ben.candystriper 90 wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2024 9:00 pmWhat does Coll have to do to get some respect from some Derry fans??eugenio wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2024 3:40 pm What about. Tonight on Drive 105 Match Night Live, as well as full match commentary, we'll be building towards kickoff live from the Mark Farren Stand from 7:10pm. We'll broadcast comments from both Ruairdhi Higgins and Keith Long, I interviewed Ronan Boyce on City's start to the season, as well as his own. Gareth Stewart from the Gasyard Feile talks to me about the play "City Till I Die" and at half time I will be joined by Monday Mahon to preview Institute's fixture with Knockbreda.
As always we will be broadcasting right up till 10pm so whether you are listening in from home or you are driving to the match, tune us in on 105.3FM or on DAB.

From this fan. Nothing more but our manager just won’t play him I d play him but do you notice Mc Jannett is untouchable to HIGGINSbarry wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2024 10:58 amDefend crosses better at the back post. Anyone who reads my posts KNOWS Coll would start for me EVERY TIME I feel he is a great player but Looking at poss team I didn’t include him as Higgs just won’t I did include Shane tho … yet am sure HE might not feature. Certain players are shoe ins for Higg Coll and Shane and Boyce are idolised by many me included But with no clout obviouslybarry wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2024 10:58 amcandystriper 90 wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2024 9:00 pm
