Looks like Shane Ferguson has signed.
Makes sense if true. A local player and bags of experience.
Like for like Coll replacement?
Coll could cover LB, CB and RB. Ferguson has only played on the left side so I think we lose a bit of versatility. Barely played in the 23/24 season and has been without a club since the summer, while at 33. He clearly had the talent, does he still? A one year deal feels like a decent shot at this point, hopefully he is able to prove his worth.

Hasn't played much lately but his experience and quality should still see him settle at this level.
When you think we signed Wilson and threw him straight into the team then I think Ferguson, with a good pre-season, will have no issues adapting.
So we replace 33 year old Ciaran Coll, a great servant to the club, with another 33 year old presumably on better terms than what Coll was offered? Also, Ferguson hasn't played much football since the summer. How is this any better than what we had?

Coll left before TL etc were in post. This is a replacement. He's obviously got a better pedigree than Coll whether he can stay injury free, that remains to be seen.
Coll was a great utility player, particularly defensively but offered little in attack.
I think Doherty played a much more attacking role under Lynch at Larne, sometimes in the centre, and I wonder will we see this with Ferguson on the left.
My take on that article is that he’s trying to get out of his contract to return to Derry is some capacity. Ballymena obviously know we’re flush so could be looking for a sweetner as he’s on a 3 yrs deal. Sounds odd indeed.
