If people are confident of the identity of those then report them to the club or authorities. My point is that anything that happens outside of the Brandywell is beyond the Clubs jurisdiction.

Not sure the authorities will see it that way. As I said previously All City Fans will have a target on their backs.

Agree that it will make all Derry fans targets.

I don't attend many away games, but it would make me wary of attending in the future. Other clubs have their scumbags too, who would think nothing of hitting me a slap simply because I'm wearing Derry colours.

It has already happened before. There was a report in the media of a man in his 50s getting battered by Rovers fans at the Brandywell after a game a couple of seasons back. It could be me or you next time.

Simply not good enough. But the authorities have to come down hard on anyone identified to be assaulting people as well. There's plenty of cctv footage around these days. If someone is caught, the the punishment can't be punitive. It has to be extreme to be a deterrent.

Louts intent on causing trouble will pick on any victim. Agree that there will be groups out to take revenge, such is the mentality of these idiots. I've seen a Derry fan get bottled on the head (split clean open) at the Cup Final v Shels a few years back whist at the same match i seen Derry fans abusing local residents of properties after the game and pissing in their garden.

We also have a reputation of stoning away fans buses and nothing really is in place to prevent that from happening...

Unfortunately you get scumbags everywhere. What I dislike more is that many people seem to see these incidents as good craic and stand watching thinking its entertainment.

Unsure how to deal with it other than to have a police presence at games but then that creates different problems.

The video of the incident has been taken off the Facebook page now (apparently because names were getting mentioned).

Will the club treat this as a wake up call about some of the scumbags we've attracted in recent years, or will they continue to look the other way instead?

A positive development. Hopefully harsh consequences will follow, (1) from the courts & (2) permanently banned from the Brandywell.

He should also be made to reveal the identity of his incel friends.

Which means the perpetrator, if he is that person who was questioned by Guards, will get a slap on the wrist.

Hope he recovers fully mentally and physically.

There are attacks that have not been made known as those supporters don’t want to risk of intimidation.

It’s in our interest to report any attacks and chances of attacks as it may limit incidents and give confidence to home and away supporters that we’re interested in their safety as well as our own, even when we are visitors to other grounds.

May never counter every possibility but the more identified, masked or not, it always reduces the risks and thugs don’t want a record after being made known.

Not reporting or being proactive doesn’t help the club or confidence of supporters.

What about a lifetime ban from all football grounds?

I think the offence was on the street not within a stadium - he should be locked up.

I'm just responding to the slap on the wrist comment. They're acting like Engerland football hooligans let's treat them like it.

Hopefully docked points, a big fine or both.

And obviously someone needs to identify the hooligan and get it sorted.

If its happening inside our ground then yes.

This keeps happening and its not a surprise.

Obviously if its outside the stadium then there's little we can do about it.

But if its inside the stadium Clubs should be punished until they sort it out.

Surely its the responsibility of all Clubs to guarantee the safety of away fans when in the ground. If its persistent trouble (like in our case) with away fans and buses being attacked regularly then punishment is standard response. Same as flares, offensive chanting or banners etc. Points docked, fines imposed or games played behind closed doors seem to be the norm. I think that's pretty standard across Europe.

I know it was only mostly young ones again, but does anyone know if the club gets fined for these incursions?
Objects were thrown at Chris Forrester too during a stoppage, prior to him taking a corner kick. This is a minority yes, but if it continues the FAI may hit us with a supporters ban. In saying that I seen some pyro being thrown towards the Derry fans, what led to that and was any injured?
See when away fans are using flares do we get fined or STPats?
i think the team causing the offence receives the punishment?

Think that happened at the cup final
