Would the fault lie with those who designed and sanctioned the seating as the contractor only builds what he’s been paid to do.dcfc_jp_1989 wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 11:02 amThe seats are bolted to the floor as well as the wall, the bolts are a trip hazard & therefore poses a health & safety risk. It was branded as a safe standing terrace with a capacity of 2,800???

Re: 2025 Season Tickets
A council worker was telling me a number of weeks ago that the planning permission was for safe standing seating without the floor bolts. Contractor is apparently rectifying it without any cost to the club, to me that sounds like the contractor accepting blame for the situationpaul60 wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 5:36 pmWould the fault lie with those who designed and sanctioned the seating as the contractor only builds what he’s been paid to do.dcfc_jp_1989 wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 11:02 amThe seats are bolted to the floor as well as the wall, the bolts are a trip hazard & therefore poses a health & safety risk. I noticed that last week, there are no bolts going into the ground for each seat, it looked like they were missing or they forgot to bolt them to the ground. Now we know why.dcfc_jp_1989 wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 1:47 amA council worker was telling me a number of weeks ago that the planning permission was for safe standing seating without the floor bolts. It is a trip hazard, but surely this stuff was designed like - just amateur stuff.
However, the rail seats are bolted to the back of the concrete, so I'm sure its just a matter of chopping/grinding the protruding metal feet attached to the ground away.

Re: 2025 Season Tickets
There was a photograph on FB a number of months ago comparing what we should be getting to what we are getting. What we should be getting is just bolting to the back of the concrete but what we have is to the back of the concrete & the metal feet on the floor of the concrete also which is the problem.attack!attack!attack wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 8:02 amI noticed that last week, there are no bolts going into the ground for each seat, it looked like they were missing or they forgot to bolt them to the ground. The answer is exactly what you said to chip/grind but would require closing the stand in full or section by section to complete. Work as far as I'm aware will be done at the end of the season

Sweet Jesus, if this is true we couldn't run a bath. Stand is great looking and we should be grateful but when it comes to details we always fall short.
Already mentioned the disabled spaces having to go to the bottom. Someone I know involved in the media has queried why no camera gantry was built in. And now trip hazard bolts - I would find it hard to believe the contractor is to blame, the product is selected and tendered by the architects, and then approved prior to installation - the contractor only puts in what he's paid to. Someone somewhere took their eye off the ball.

The planning permission was for the safe standing seats without the metal feet & we've somehow ended up with them. As you say someone somewhere has taken their eye off the ball & we're now left where we have to treat it as a normal stand rather than the safe standing terrace it was intended to be until it is rectifiedroger diesel wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 11:05 am Sweet Jesus, if this is true we couldn't run a bath. Exactly. The lack of a gantry etc will need to be rectified down the line if we are to be able to host our own European games in the future etc. (UEFA Category 4)dcfc_jp_1989 wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 12:33 pmThe planning permission was for the safe standing seats without the metal feet & we've somehow ended up with them. Also believe the club have intentions to erect a scoreboard in the future. Probably dependant on the funding we get, but the Brandywell is on the right path anyway with regards to improvements - just a few tweaks required.

Re: 2025 Season Tickets
Sean Barrett mentioned something about it in the Derry Journal podcast, can't remember if he said having a lease would mean we can install one or if it was a planning permission issue. I do remember him saying the screen we had prior to the move to Maginn Park is sitting out at CampsieTenaciousDee wrote: Mon Apr 21, 2025 6:09 pmI heard the club applied for that and the council said no.attack!attack!attack wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 7:17 pm
