Derry City v Galway United Match Thread
Unsure about ticket availability. I went online to find the link but the page seems to be down. If anyone has any ticket news feel free to add it.
3 losses in 4 games against a team who are undefeated. This is an important game for the club in terms of ambitions, morale and future tickets sales. Make your match predictions and feel free to share news and reaction in the build up, during and after the game.
This match is live on LOITV, BBC Radio Foyle and Drive 105.

A reminder, because no-one else is publicising it, if you know anyone with sight impairment who requires a receiver for the audio descriptive commentary then advise them to collect one from the Mark Farren Stand control room. If they wish to book one in advance individuals can email Rory.McCartney@rnib.org.uk

Listened to the LOI preview earlier, Alan Cawley went for a Galway win.

Duffy is bright and our only outlet.
Still very one dimensional. Not really creating anything of note. Lots of half chances but little to get excited about in these early games.

Brutal
No creativity from coaches nor players
No legs in MF
No desire to have a go
These boys won't see out the season at this rate No matter how good the meals are in Owenbeg.

Dire stuff, both teams were hopeless. All that money spent and can't create a chance. When the new stand opens there won't be anybody in it.

Re: Derry City v Galway United Match Thread
Obviously it’s easy to pile on and point to new stands lying empty and new signings not working out. The stand is for the next 100 years and new signings take time.
I personally think Hoban should be starting and we need a look at McMullan. So far it’s the tactics and line up that have been a bit predictable.
Was expecting to see better but there’s no easy games either which is great for the league. Early days still.

Re: Derry City v Galway United Match Thread
This team so far are totally underwhelming and I'm concerned for how the rest of the season will pan out, most likely in mediocrity judging by this start.
I was encouraged by the first half of the first half but from then on it took a worrying dip. If you look at the stats we had the majority of possession and more shots but in reality, we created few good chances, from memory Thomas could have passed to Boyce and Boyce slid to just miss a Duffy shot/pass.
There is a serious lack of pace in the team and I don't just mean running in straight line pace but pace of urgency, pace on the ball. In the second half we resorted to long direct balls up to Boyce and Hoban but we we struggled to get support around them. I was bemused at the lack of earlier changes when it was clear with about 20 minutes to go we needed fresh impetus.
We have no pace to break on the counter or to support an isolated front man. I also don't see a team that is going to control possession and move up the field and pen teams in to their final third.
All in all I think we're in for a frustrating season. The Drive105 lads (sorry Dee) were talking about fans going away happy or 'less sad' with a point... I couldn't disagree more. I leave wondering how we can possibly compete against the top 3 teams (Pats, Shels, Rovers). This is not a title winning side.
