Cork city v Derry city.
Big game , a chance for Derry to go top ...Sean maguire expected back for cork. Was impressed with the way we handled st pats ...Hopefully we can build on 2 great home results. Whilst I have sometimes questioned Tiernan Lynch's decisions . I thought he out foxed Kenny on Monday and called everything spot on ...

A win would cap off an excellent week - and send us into the Drogheda and Shamrock Rovers games full of confidence.

Yes, we really can't be having another defeat now after winning the 2 previous games so impressively.
We have to keep this effort and momentum going. Considering how we bossed Pats and Shels, we shouldn't be losing to that Cork team.
If Drogs and Rovers draw, good chance we could be league leaders later tonight.

It sounds like they may have learned from the last set of three games in a week so hopefully they have.
No matter what level they are at, the journey to Cork is a long one. I'd take a point.

Re: Cork city v Derry city.
If I am honest, I am hoping Carl Winchester isn't selected to play tonight. Along with Mark Connolly, he is one yellow away from a suspension and we will need him for the trip to Drogheda and Rovers in the Brandywell. Benson or Harkin in his place tonight would do the trick.
Other than that, I hope Mullan retains his spot. An injection of pace to run at Cork's young back line will make life difficult for them. I would also prefer to see Thomas starting tonight. Don't get me wrong McMullan was very good on Monday but I think Thomas's wide play and his final ball is better than McMullan's at present.
Last year in the cup they had the opportunity to knock us out and we rode our luck a bit. Key tonight is a clean sheet and not to underestimate Cork.

According to Cork City manager, Maguire had only recently started running and not expected back on pitch until end of month.chosen1 wrote: Thu May 08, 2025 9:25 pm Big game , a chance for Derry to go top ...Sean maguire expected back for cork. Need a win tonight to show that we can put a run of wins together and with Drogs and Rovers up next we need to put ourselves in a position that if we drop points in those matches that we are still in the mix. Played well the last two matches so hopefully keep the momentum going.
With rovers and drogheda playing each other we could even possibly go top with a win.

Should have killed the game off in the first half, we were so dominant. Cork goal coming from a throw in taken a mile away from were it was given. 20 mins to win against a poor cork team.

Our experience, match fitness and physicality is starting to make the difference in these hard fought games.
This side of our game was non existent before TL arrived. He’s added an intensity that was missing last season.
Great 3 points.

That was a big goal from Holt, massive 3pts.
Onwards and upwards, closer to getting more players back into the squad. Hopefully O'Reilly is OK.

Brilliant result last night, going into those last 3 games I would’ve settled for 4/5 points
Full steam ahead now for Drogheda

Excellent win. Whyte did brilliant for the first goal whilst Hot was excellent for his as he just powered his through to the ball. That's 5 wins from 6 and is certainly some turn around- fair play to TL and the players.
Next week will be tough but hopefully we can get a bit revenge on drogheda after the brandywell collapse but it's never easy down there.

Shocking that the Cork goal was allowed to stand.Paddydcfc2010 wrote: Fri May 09, 2025 9:12 pm Should have killed the game off in the first half, we were so dominant. Cork goal coming from a throw in taken a mile away from were it was given. 20 mins to win against a poor cork team.
Anyway, the first half performance, again, was dominating. A great sign to see that the recent improved performances are continuing. The response to the equaliser was also very encouraging.
Away to Drogehda next, a tougher away fixture. Derry can go there with confidence. A few weeksnago they came to the Brandywell as league leaders. Been some turnaround.

I’l take that last night. Game management excellent at the end when under pressure. Hard fought win.
Plenty of positives again.
Lets get a big crowd down to Drogheda on Friday

Such a shame now we were so poor in Waterford.davybhoy wrote: Sat May 10, 2025 8:48 am Excellent win.
